Stossel visit stirs controversy
A series of planned appearances in Arkansas on Thursday by John Stossel, former co-anchor of ABC’s 20/20 and now host of a new show on Fox Business News, is stirring an already bubbling stew of controversy over Fox’s role as a news network.
Stossel is scheduled to participate in forums on health care at the Texarkana Fair Grounds at 7 a.m., the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock at 11 a.m. and the Hilton Garden Inn in Jonesboro at 5 p.m. The forums are sponsored by the conservative advocacy group Americans for Prosperity.
The forums come at a time when Fox is facing criticism from the Obama administration, which has labeled the network as part of the political opposition. The New York Times and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow have taken note of Stossel’s visit to the Natural State.
