Southwest Power Pool moving?
Southwest Power Pool, which is looking to consolidate its administrative and operations offices into one building, has made an offer to buy land owned by the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System in the western part of the city.
Currently, SPP’s administrative offices are in Little Rock and its operations offices are in Maumelle.
The proposal, to be considered Tuesday by the ATRS board, is to purchase two commercial lots on Rahling Road and build the new headquarters there, says Nick Brown, president and CEO of SPP.
The offer is to be considered by the ATRS Tuesday.
“We currently lease space in the Plaza West building … and the facility is no longer able to handle our growth or our technology needs, so we are looking to build a new campus to handle our administrative functions and our operations,” he said, adding the company has more than 450 employees. The company serves customers in all, or parts, of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The ATRS board also Tuesday is to consider an offer to buy the Victory Building near the state Capitol. Stephen L. LaFrance Pharmacy Inc., owner of Pine Bluff-based USA Drug, has offered $16.9 million for the 282,500-square-foot structure.
