GOP Lt. Gov. hopeful surprised by launch of Web site
Talk about a campaign with a life of its own.
Called for comment today about the launch of his campaign Web site, Republican Mark Darr of Springdale said he didn’t even know the site was scheduled to go online today.
“I didn’t know about it coming up today until I got a couple of phone calls about it. I’ve seen it. It’ looks good,” said Darr, who has formed an exploratory committee to test the waters for a possible challenge to Democratic Lt. Gov. Bill Halter next year.
Darr, an insurance agent who also owns Larry’s Pizza in west Little Rock and Mad Pizza Company in Rogers, says the Web site is part of his ongoing campaign to gauge support for a race against Halter.
“We’ll have to see when we can file with the party. We’re going to have some fundraisers and just keep testing the waters,” he said.
Darr’s Web site includes several new media avenues, including Twitter and Facebook, as well as an ‘About Mark’ page that states: “I am the guy who buys his kids ice cream when they don’t do that well in the game or when they drop my iPhone and break it,” and “I am the son who takes his parents to doctor visits as they get older.”
