Rex Nelson, a veteran journalist and a one-time  top assistant to former Gov. Mike Huckabee, has left his federal job and is working for a Little Rock public relations, marketing and advertising firm.

Nelson began work today as senior vice president for government relations and public outreach for Communications Group.   

Nelson was Huckabee’s communications director until his appointment as co-chairman of the Delta Regional Authority in 2005 by President Bush.
