Wanna hear about health care?
U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln made news by coming out against the Employee Free Choice Act today. But that’s not why she came home to Arkansas.
Lincoln has stops planned across the state this week and next to talk about health care reform legislation she says could be ready by June.
The senator says she supports a shared-risk health insurance pool made up of millions of employees of small businesses. She says pooling employees would give small businesses the broad-based risk sharing that makes large employers better able to save on their insurance.
Lincoln says small businesses create most of the nation’s jobs but less than a third of businesses employing fewer than 50 workers provide health insurance. She says that’s because they can’t afford it, although she says affordable insurance for small businesses alone would extend insurance to about half of the nation’s 50 million uninsured — about 500,000 in Arkansas.

I am excited about this shared risk insurance pool. Too many rural businesses can’t offer insurance to their employees. What I would rather see is healthcare for all who are employed. Some people work out of their homes, some have farms, some clean houses -> all people who work deserve to be insured.
