Biodiesel bill detailed
Supporters of House Bill 1790, which would require diesel sold in Arkansas to contain at least 5 percent biodiesel, say the proposal could generate as many as 1,500 new jobs in the state.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Tiffany Rogers, D-Stuttgart, is to be discussed in the Joint Committee on Energy next week.
Rogers and Sen. Robert Thompson, D-Paragould, who will sponsor the measure in the Senate, said during a news conference today that a recent study by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock concluded that requiring all diesel sold in the state to contain 5-percent biodiesel, which is made from soybeans, would create the new jobs in farming, production, retail and the distribution of biodiesel.
There are currently two biodiesel plants in the state and two more are to be operational within the next few months.

Patriot Biofuels is located in Ms. Roger’s county. Is it (coincedentally) in Stuttgart. They are in reconstruction.
In late 2007 the company’s only customers weres the farmers that sold them the corn in the first place. This bio stuff does not work and Ms. Rogers claims are unproven as to creating jobs.
The one fact that we all know about bio fuels is that it drives up food costs. Many over, the over the road truck drivers will confirm that this fuelis total death to their motors.
It is not a green thing. It is a money making cause for just a few.
Thanks,

OK heres my take. I am a truck driver and I have to say that when using biodiesel blended fuel that my fuel economy is a little higher than when not using bio. The reason for this is added lubricity to the fuel allowing the engine to run smoother with the epa mandated ultra low sulfer fuel.
I would rather make some US farmer’s rich by using bio than to give more money to terrorist supporter’s in the middle east.
