Ethics bills on tap
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel’s ethics package has not been filed yet, and already he’s predicting smooth sailing on the first leg of its trip through the Legislature.
McDaniel says two measures will be filed Monday in the Senate, where he expects swift approval, One would tighten lobbyist reporting requirements and discourage “absentee” lobbying. The other would institute a one-year cooling off period before lawmakers, agency heads and chiefs of staff could lobby the Legislature after leaving office.
McDaniel says he’s not so confident of approval in the House.
