Multiple Sclerosis awareness
In honor of this week being multiple sclerosis awareness week across the country, Sen. Shane Broadway, D-Bryant, always upbeat and ready to lend a hand, took a personal moment today to discuss his wife Debbie’s battle with the illness.
He said his wife has had MS for 19 years, but in the past seven months it has become more debilitating and she was forced to quit her job.
Despite the pain, she has become an advocate for people with MS and research to find a cure, he said.
“She has a lot more pain than you’ll ever know,” he said, adding he was proud of her strong will and drive.
“”She’s not going to let this beat her,” he said. “We’re not going to let this beat her.”
Debbie Broadway also spoke briefly on the Senate floor, thanking senators for their support and friendship.
“You have no idea … how special my husband is to hold on to me and get me through this,” she said.
The Senate passed Senate Resolution 8, which supports the goals and ideals of multiple sclerosis awareness week.
