Off-the-field honors
Reigning American League Cy Young Award-winner Cliff Lee hit a triple at the state Capitol today.
Both the House and Senate approved resolutions honoring the Benton native today, and the Cleveland Indians all-star visited and posed for pictures with Gov. Mike Beebe.
“Take a look at the first ever Cy Young Award won by an Arkansan,” Sen. Shane Broadway of Bryant bragged on the Senate floor as Lee held up the award.
“It’s an unbelievable honor … and I’m definitely proud to be an Arkansan,” said Lee, accompanied by his wife, Kristen, his two children, Jaxon and Maci, his parents, Steve and Sharon Lee, and his grandparents, Buck and Barbara Ann Phifer.
