Lottery to rules panel
House Speaker Robbie Wills has assigned the lottery scholarship bill to House Rules Committee today. The speaker hand-picked members for the committee and tabbed Rep. Robert Moore, D-Arkansas City, to chair the panel. Moore is a former director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control division.
House Bill 1002 is still a shell bill, with the details to be amended into the bill later. Wills urged House colleagues today to “create a successful, independent lottery commission that operates with integrity, transparency and accountability. Let’s open the scholarships to more and more of our students. Let’s make the outcome that every person wanting to continue their education after high school should now have the means.”
