It’s only natural
Fort Smith-based Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp. received approval today to begin selling natural gas to the public as vehicle fuel.
The Arkansas Public Service Commission approved a tariff filing by AOG that will allow the company to give customers who own natural gas-powered vehicles the option of fueling up at a designated AOG-owned facility or from a customer-owned facility.
The cost for the service, based on commodity prices and rates approved by the PSC, is estimated to be equivalent to $1.60 per gallon of gasoline.
The commission commended AOG in its order approving the company’s request
“The development, implementation and expansion of this initiative via AOG’s NGV (natural gas vehicle) tariff will give Arkansans the option of using a cleaner and thus more environmentally friendly vehicle fuel alternative to petroleum-based products,” the commission said.
