Pryor: Obama could have won state

Barack Obama could have won Arkansas if he had campaigned here, according to U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.

“I think if Obama had come here and worked here and allocated some resources to Arkansas, we could have been like North Carolina or Missouri or some of these other states who were very close, and we could have won the thing. … They made the right decision nationally, but I do wish the Obama campaign had spent some more time here,” Pryor told reporters.

As of today, provisional ballots are still being counted in Missouri and no winner has been declared.

Pryor, who campaigned in the state on Obama’s behalf, said Arkansas’ election results — 58.6 percent for McCain, 39 percent for Obama — also may have been affected by former first lady Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the national Democratic primary and “probably some other factors.”

Obama’s most recent appearance in Arkansas was in October 2006 at a rally for Mike Beebe and other Democratic candidates.

I don’t really think so. Most Arkansans are hard working and would not have voted for a candidate who openly talked about confiscating their money through taxation to spread the wealth. They also would not have voted for someone who has always been anti-gun with past votes to restrict our Second Amendment rights. Please give people from Arkansas credit for being a just a little smarter and better informed than most of the voters in other states.

Obama did not stand a chance here because of a lot of things. His stance on abortion is one of those. Pryor better do a better job or he might get voted out next time if somebody good ran against him. The two people running this time were not good. I want to get rid of all incumbents and find somebody who will do something on the illegal alien issue. I am tired of this and crime is worse all the time. We need to take a harsh stanceand clean up NW Ark. That priest in Little Rock is nuts. Let him go to Mexico and not tell this state what to do.

Kenny, you’ve got to give us something to work with before we can call you better informed. You didn’t give it in that paragraph. Tootsie didn’t help make your case either though she got the assessment of Pryor’s job security pretty close (if for the wrong reason).

Lyon, you let Pryor slide. Your fourth paragraph should have read: Pryor, who “campaigned” in the state on Obama’s behalf . . . .

The quotation marks look subtle but are important. Let’s hope Tootsie’s right and we get someone (how about an illegal alien) to run against that knot on a log.
